This is an album that has gotten both rave and negative reviews. As a long time fan of the Purple one, I feel the need to put in my two cents and give this album a very good review. It is a marvelous introduction to who Prince is as a musician. While I am sure older fans may disagree with this, each track on this album samples his styles. The single “Guitar” represents Prince’s non-stop rockstar styling and affection for the instrument of his choice. Songs “Somewhere Here on Earth, “Mr. Goodnight”, and “Future Baby Mama” reveal his softer, more romantic side. Tracks “Planet Earth” and “Lion of Judah” represent his spiritual, exploratory side; or who he has become as an older person. His song “The 1 U Wanna C” is the typical playfulness he has been well known for. In all, the album Planet Earth is yet another album by Prince that displays his love for all kinds of music and stylings. It is a broadcast of what goes on in his mind, rather than what the fans may or may not want to hear. It just so happens that most of us do.
