Have you ever had your brain rubbed by an astonishingly beautiful woman? Looked out the window and see thousands of years go by at once? Fallen in love with everybody you’ve met? Looked in the mirror and felt the lines deepen as you watched strange paranoias crisscross in front of you eyes? Thats the Metamorphosis.
I really enjoyed this story, but it’s the sort of enjoyment that takes you by surprise and feels sort of strange - like playing with an alternating current. It’s not a happy story, but it’s not tragic (at least in the usual way). It takes your perspective as the reader and flips it sideways and diagonally. Afterwards, you feel like you’ve learned something - but aren’t exactly sure what. Essentially, if you like mind-fucks, this is for you.
