It started out really great. The deal of being able to return movies at the store was awesome. Then they raised the rates. We were okay with it the first time, but then they did it again. They wanted to charge us $35 per month for 3 out at a time, and store returns. It was obvious that they wanted rid of the program.

Blockerbuster Total Access has some good and bad points. The in-store exchange lets me get copies of the most recently released movies. These just released videos are hard to get through Blcokbuster or Netflix.

However, Blockbuster takes a long time to “recycle” your returned, return mail videos. Despite the clerks telling you, the next video goes out when you return your mailed video at the store, Blockbuster does not start processing your next mailed movie until they receive your previous mailed movie back at their processing warehouse.

Secondly, despite marking preferences that the “next available” movie be sent to me, Blockbuster’s warehouse will wait until your top choice in your queue is available. So, if your #1 choice changes from “available” to “short wait,” you may not get another movie (even if you are in the ‘3-at-a-time’ plan) until your #1 choice is “available.”

Additionally, a movie marked as “available” in your queue may not actually be available. As telephone personnel have explained to me, “This movie was expected to be available by the time you were expected to need your next movie.” I have gone 2 days with no movies in my shipped queue because the top “available” movie really wasn’t available. There is no way to tell if an available movie is really available. I have repeatedly asked them to ship over any ‘not really available’ movies in order to ship me something. I have also marked my preferences this way. Despite this, they keep delaying sending out new movies.

If it wasn’t for the in-house exchange, i would have left Blockbuster long ago.

Netflix just started sending movies out on Saturdays. Blockbuster seems to find reasons to slow things down.
